Start with the time zone
‘After school’ means something very different in New York, Toronto, Vancouver and California. Share your city and possible weekday and weekend windows before the assessment.
Do not choose an exhausting time simply to secure a particular teacher. Persistent tiredness quickly reduces participation.
Describe the language situation at home
If one parent does not speak Russian, the school needs to know who can read messages, support homework and maintain the routine. Home practice should not depend on constant translation by the Russian-speaking parent.
Explain who uses Russian with the child and whether the child answers independently in Russian.
Conversational Russian is not the same as literacy
A child may discuss everyday life fluently yet lack book and academic vocabulary. They may also read aloud accurately without understanding details. Assessment should separate speaking, vocabulary, decoding, comprehension and writing.

Do not assume the course provides school credit
A general online Russian course does not automatically provide credit in a particular school district, province or examination system. Families seeking formal recognition should confirm local requirements directly and discuss them separately with the course provider.
